12.65m people subscribe to mobile operators in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Mobile operators of Uzbekistan served over 12.65 million subscribers as of 1 January 2009, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies of Uzbekistan under the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information said on Monday, 12 January.

As earlier reported, number of mobile subscribers in Uzbekistan comprised 12.057 million people as of 1 December 2008. The growth rate made up 4.91% month-to-month.

Currently, five mobile operators work in Uzbekistan, including MTS-Uzbekistan (Unzdunrobota, GSM standard), Beeline (Unitel, GSM standard), Ucell (Coscom, GSM standard), Perfectum Mobile (Rubicon Wireless Communication, CDMA standard) and Uzbektelecom Mobile (CDMA standard).
