Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairman of the Uzeltekhsanoat Association, Mirziyod Yunusov, held negotiations with the head of the administration of the Free Economic Zone (FEZ) Vitebsk, Mikhail Skurat. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the electrical engineering industry. The meeting took place within the framework of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan.

The participants focused their attention on the efficient utilization of the potential of free economic zones, the implementation of joint investment projects, and the development of industrial cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.

During the meeting, information was presented on the capabilities of FEZ Vitebsk, which was established in 1999. Today, the free economic zone consists of 17 sectors with a total area of 2,425 hectares. The total volume of investments attracted by its residents has reached nearly US$1.4 billion.

It was noted that 53 investment projects involving capital from 11 countries are currently being implemented within the FEZ. The enterprises located in the zone employ more than 16,000 people. Tax and customs incentives are provided to investors, engineering infrastructure is established, and access to the markets of Europe and the Eurasian Economic Union is secured through a well-developed transport and logistics network.

Following the negotiations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial partnership, expanding practical cooperation, and continuing work on new joint projects.
