Uzbekneftegaz plans to produce electricity from flare oil gas

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekneftegaz is planning to launch production of electricity from flare oil gas. The company plans to direct US$50 million to this project, Noviy Vek newspaper reported quoting source in the Uzbek government.

The report said that introduction of technology will allow to launch own generating capacities of 50 megawatt and decrease dependency of gas infrastructure from electricity supplies.

The project will be financed due to own resources of Uzbekneftegaz, the report said.

According to Uzbekneftegaz, currently the volume of gas production in Uzbekistan makes up 60 billion cubic meters a year and over 1.5 billion cubic of gas burnt in flare. In last four year, the volume of burnt gas flare fell by 3.5 billion cubic meters due to introduction of technologies.
