Uzbekistan’s school attendance hits 99% after 515,000 parental warnings
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — After sending 515,000 warning letters to parents, school attendance in Uzbekistan reached 99%, according to the Children’s Ombudswoman Surayo Rahmonova.
Data from the National Guard indicated that at the beginning of 2024 the average attendance rate was around 70%. However, following the extensive notification of parents, this figure increased to between 95% and 99% by the end of the year.
Currently, there are 10,134 schools in the country, educating approximately 6.57 million children. In addition, a survey of 245,000 students aged between 10 and 17 revealed that 97% of the children are aware of their rights, 65% have a good understanding of them, and 52% received the relevant information at school.
