Uzbekistan’s green energy output rises by 37 percent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The volume of electricity generated by solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan since the beginning of 2026 has exceeded 3 billion kWh, according to the Ministry of Energy.
As of 16:00 on April 20, total generation reached 3.027 billion kWh. Of this amount, 1.640 billion kWh were produced by solar photovoltaic stations, while wind power plants generated 1.387 billion kWh. For comparison, total output a month earlier, as of March 20, stood at 2 billion kWh.
Since the beginning of the year, “green” electricity production has increased by 792 million kWh, representing a 37% rise compared to the same period in 2025.
The growth in generation has helped reduce consumption of traditional energy resources. In particular, 807 million cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and more than 1.74 million tons of harmful emissions were prevented from entering the atmosphere.
Including hydroelectric power, total electricity generation in Uzbekistan since the beginning of the year reached 4.65 billion kWh. This resulted in savings of 1.24 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented emissions of more than 2.674 million tons of pollutants.
The reported volume of electricity is comparable to the average consumption of 5.8 million households over four months or the annual needs of approximately 1.9 million households.
