Uzbekistan’s foreign trade up 21% to US$19bn in 2008

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 21.4% year-on-year in 2008 to US$$19.08 billion, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Uzbekistan’s exports totaled US$11.57 billion, rising 28.7% year-on-year in 2008, while imports stood at US$7.5 billion, registering an 11.5% increase compared to the previous year, the committee said.

Uzbekistan’s foreign trade surplus stood at US$4.07 billion in 2008, including US$807.1 million with the Commonwealth of Independent States and US$3.26 billion with other countries.
