Uzbekistan U-17 Team Qualifies for FIFA World Cup

Uzbekistan’s under-17 national football team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia and secured qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in November.
In their opening Group D match, the Uzbek side defeated India 3-0. Laziz Abdurakhimov opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.
Uzbekistan doubled its lead in the second half after Indian defender Wangkhem Danny Singh scored an own goal following a corner kick. The third goal was added by Akhrorbek Ravshanbekov.
Earlier, Australia defeated India 4-0. As a result, Uzbekistan and Australia secured early qualification for the tournament quarterfinals and booked places at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The match between Uzbekistan and Australia on May 13 will determine the winner of Group D.
North Korea had initially been scheduled to compete in the group but withdrew from the tournament before it began.
