Uzbekistan to build thermal power station with US$1bn cost

Uzbekistan is planning to construct new thermal power station in Turakurgan district of Namangan region, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the session of the Andijan Regional Kengash (Council) of People’s Deputies on 26 April 2013.
Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan implements strategic project on construction of Turakurgan thermal power station with the capacity of 900 megavolts. He said that the cost of the project is US$1 billion.
Launch of the project will help to meet demands of Ferghana, Namangan and Andijan regions in electricity and will play key role in development of these regions, Uzbek President added.
