Uzbekistan Taxi Turnover Reaches UZS 7.2 Trillion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The turnover of taxi services in Uzbekistan reached UZS 7.2 trillion between January and August 2026, according to figures released by the Tax Committee. During the eight-month period, digital ride-hailing aggregators completed 329 million trips, with 242 platform services integrated into the tax authorities' information systems.

Cash payments accounted for UZS 4.5 trillion, representing 63.1 percent of the total turnover, while cashless transactions comprised UZS 2.6 trillion, or 36.9 percent. The average receipt value across all rides stood at UZS 21,785.5. Official data shows that 481,100 self-employed drivers operate through these aggregators, including 4,107 women.

In terms of annual earnings distribution among self-employed drivers, the largest segments earned between UZS 10 million and UZS 50 million (124.4 thousand drivers) and between UZS 1 million and UZS 5 million (123.6 thousand drivers). Furthermore, 133.7 thousand drivers earned less than UZS 1 million, 59.9 thousand earned between UZS 5 million and UZS 10 million, 31.5 thousand made between UZS 50 million and UZS 100 million, and over 7.9 thousand reported incomes exceeding UZS 100 million.

Domestic models dominate the active taxi fleet, led by the Chevrolet Cobalt at 27 percent, followed by the Nexia at 19.3 percent and the Lacetti at 16.1 percent. Electric vehicles account for 2.5 percent of the platform fleet. Regarding vehicle age, cars between three and five years old make up 37.1 percent of the fleet, followed by vehicles older than ten years at 29.2 percent, five to ten years at 17.3 percent, and one to three years at 16.3 percent.

Tax revenues generated by aggregator companies also expanded over the period. Digital taxi platforms paid UZS 149.2 billion in total taxes from January to August 2026, including UZS 46.8 billion in value-added tax.
