Uzbekistan, Serbia Explore New Areas of Business Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan and Serbia discussed expanding trade and investment cooperation and developing direct contacts between companies from the two countries. The talks were held ahead of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Serbia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said.

Jamil Maksudi, Adviser to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, held a series of meetings with representatives of Serbian business organizations and companies. One of the key meetings was held with Mihailo Vesovic, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, and the head of the Chamber’s international cooperation department.

The participants considered ways to intensify the work of the Uzbekistan-Serbia Business Council and expand direct interaction between entrepreneurs from the two countries. Particular attention was paid to preparing and implementing joint investment projects.

Agriculture, including meat production projects, was identified as a potential area for cooperation. The sides also discussed trade conditions and tariff regulation, as well as opportunities to make more effective use of GSP+ benefits.

Investment cooperation prospects were also considered in information and communications technology and light industry.

During the visit, talks were held with representatives of Serbian companies operating in the agro-industrial sector and other areas of the economy. The participants discussed expanding trade and investment ties, scientific and technological exchanges, and potential joint projects, including those focused on agricultural clusters in Uzbekistan.

Victor Ribic, the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan in Serbia, participated in organizing the meetings.

The sides expressed interest in further developing business contacts and increasing the number of joint projects. Continued negotiations are expected to create additional opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
