Uzbekistan Plans Regular Flights to Sokh District

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan plans to launch regular flights to Sokh district in the Ferghana region using Cessna 208 Caravan and L-410 aircraft, the regional administration said, citing a presidential resolution on the socio-economic development of the district for 2026–2028.

According to the statement, an additional 13 hectares of land will be allocated for the airport to support the development of air services.

The runway and airfield will also be expanded, allowing regular flights to begin and new routes to be introduced in response to passenger demand.

The resolution also provides for measures to improve the district's transport accessibility. Regular public transport services are to be launched from Sokh to other cities and districts, while the number of registration counters at border crossing points will be doubled. The authorities expect the changes to reduce border crossing times.

The document is aimed at supporting the socio-economic development of Sokh district in 2026–2028, increasing employment and accelerating business development through more efficient use of existing resources and opportunities.

As noted earlier during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in April on the development of Sokh district, the Uzbek exclave had previously faced limited transport and logistics links and weak economic ties with the rest of the country.

According to the statement, the development of regional cooperation, the opening of new roads and simplified border crossing procedures have created additional opportunities to strengthen transport and economic connectivity.

At the meeting, the president instructed officials to improve transport links between Sokh and other regions and accelerate border crossing procedures.
