Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has officially opened its Consulate General in Seattle, marking the launch of the country’s diplomatic mission on the US West Coast. The consulate began operating in spring this year, and a formal opening ceremony was held in Seattle.

The establishment of new diplomatic missions in key US cities — Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago and Orlando — was provided for by a presidential decree establishing the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.

A key priority for the consulates is cooperation with Uzbek diaspora communities across the United States, as well as support for the promotion of trade and economic projects.

The diplomatic mission in Seattle will also provide direct support to Komil Allamjonov, adviser-envoy at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, who represents the Presidential Administration in the United States.

Before the expansion of its diplomatic presence, Uzbekistan had only an embassy in Washington and a Consulate General in New York in the United States.

With the opening of the Seattle mission, Uzbek citizens and businesses on the Pacific Coast now have full diplomatic representation.
