Uzbekistan Labor Inspectorate Warns Against Forced Work

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s State Labor Inspectorate has warned against forcibly requiring workers to perform various assignments outside working hours and on weekends.

The warning follows reports posted on social media about such cases in several regions.

The agency emphasized that forced labor is prohibited by law. Workers cannot be compelled to perform duties without their consent under threat of punishment or as a result of pressure.

The inspectorate also drew attention to reports involving citizens included in the Social Register.

According to the agency, there have been cases in which citizens were unjustifiably or forcibly removed from the register.

The State Labor Inspectorate noted that such actions could restrict citizens’ access to government-provided social protection and support measures.

The agency stressed that performing any assignment cannot serve as grounds for restricting workers’ labor rights or citizens’ right to social protection.

The appeals received by the inspectorate will be reviewed. If the information contained in them is confirmed, the responsible officials will face measures предусмотренные законодательством.
