Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Metro has attributed crowding at Pakhtakor station to two trains arriving simultaneously during rush hour. The incident occurred on 20 October at around 5:43 p.m., the metro operator said.
According to the company, the increase in passenger numbers was temporary. Such situations can occur when stations are busy, and passenger movement usually returns to normal within a few minutes, it added.
With Tashkent Metro handling more than 1.2 million passenger journeys daily, the operator is taking steps to shorten train intervals, reduce crowding and improve travel comfort.
The planned intervals are up to 1.5–2 minutes on the Chilanzar Line, up to three minutes on the Uzbekistan Line, up to four minutes on the Yunusabad Line and up to 7–8 minutes on the Elevated Ring Line.
The metro operator said it continues to work on managing passenger flows, maintaining stable train services and improving the safety and comfort of journeys.
