Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to continue strengthening interparliamentary cooperation and support the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries.
These issues were discussed at the sixth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission for Cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis and Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh.
The meeting was held at the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Uzbek parliamentary delegation was led by Sodiq Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and co-chair of the commission.
The Kyrgyz side was represented by a delegation led by Jyldyz Taalaibek kyzy, Deputy Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh and co-chair of the commission.
Participants reviewed prospects for further developing the strategic partnership, strengthening bilateral ties and ensuring the practical implementation of previously reached agreements.
Particular attention was given to expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, developing interregional and cross-border contacts, and implementing joint initiatives in education, science and culture.
The parties also discussed the role of parliaments in improving legislation, removing legal and administrative barriers, and strengthening parliamentary oversight.
Following the meeting, participants reaffirmed their intention to continue joint work in these areas.
