Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan Discuss Regional Transport Integration
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held talks on the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkestan, focusing on key areas of bilateral cooperation and regional integration.
The sides concentrated on further strengthening relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and comprehensive strategic partnership. It was noted that in recent years there has been steady growth in mutual trade and an expansion of industrial cooperation, as well as collaboration in agriculture, water management, and other priority sectors of the economy.
Special attention was given to the practical implementation of previously reached high-level agreements. In this context, the leaders discussed measures to accelerate major regional infrastructure projects, including the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway initiative, seen as a key component of transport connectivity in Central Asia.
The presidents also exchanged views on pressing regional issues and agreed on a future schedule of high-level bilateral contacts, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining an active political dialogue.
