Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — On 15 June 2026, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov held talks in Tashkent with a delegation led by President and CEO of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) Kim Bok Hwan.

The sides discussed the current status and next steps in the implementation of joint infrastructure projects between Uzbekistan and South Korea.

The Minister of Transport expressed gratitude for the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea in the development of the master plan for the Smart Airport City project. It was noted that the project is considered strategically important and envisions the creation of a large transport and infrastructure complex based on Korean urban development expertise.

The parties also reviewed progress on the construction of the New Tashkent International Airport, one of the country’s key infrastructure projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to take measures to accelerate the implementation of joint projects and further deepen cooperation in the transport and infrastructure sector.
