Uzbekistan industrial output rises 8% in Q1 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan produced goods worth 289.3 trillion soums in January–March 2026, marking an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.
As of April 1, the country had around 61,000 industrial enterprises in operation. Food production leads by number of enterprises with 12,200 units, accounting for 20% of the total.
The production of other non-metallic mineral products ranks second with 8,500 enterprises (13.9%), followed by clothing manufacturing with 6,200 enterprises (10.1%).
Manufacture of fabricated metal products accounts for 4,900 enterprises (8.1%), while furniture production includes 4,200 enterprises (6.9%). Textile manufacturing is represented by 3,700 enterprises (6.1%), and rubber and plastic products by 2,900 enterprises (4.7%).
Regional analysis shows significant variation in industrial output per capita. The national average stood at 7.6 million soums. Navoi region recorded 66 million soums per capita, 8.7 times higher than the national average. Tashkent city posted 14.4 million soums, while Tashkent region reached 13.6 million soums per capita.
In terms of growth rates, industrial output per capita increased by 106.1% nationwide. Syrdarya region recorded 107.1%, Samarkand region 107%, Namangan region 106.8%, Bukhara region 106.6%, and Andijan region 106.5%.
Manufacturing dominates the industrial structure with output of 246.1 trillion soums, accounting for 85.1% of the total.
Mining and quarrying contributed 20.3 trillion soums (7%), while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply accounted for 21.3 trillion soums (7.4%). Water supply, sewerage, and waste management generated 1.6 trillion soums (0.5%).
In the first quarter, Uzbekistan produced 9.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Oil production reached 157,300 tonnes, and coal output totaled 1.1 million tonnes.
Refineries produced 313,200 tonnes of gasoline and 280,900 tonnes of diesel fuel. Cement production reached 4.1 million tonnes, while textile enterprises produced 197,400 tonnes of yarn. Flour mills processed grain into 407,900 tonnes of wheat and spelt flour.
Within manufacturing, food, beverages, and tobacco products accounted for 16.1% of output, while textiles, clothing, and leather goods contributed 15.2%.
The production of fabricated metal products, machinery, electronics, vehicles, and equipment accounted for 16.4%, while chemical products, rubber, and plastics made up 6.3%.
The technological structure of manufacturing shows that high-tech industries account for 1.1%, medium-high-tech for 17.9%, medium-low-tech for 46.1%, and low-tech for 34.9%.
The energy sector also showed positive dynamics. Electricity generation reached 104.7% of the level recorded a year earlier, while thermal energy production by large enterprises increased to 120.5%.
Environmental indicators improved as well. Textile waste decreased by 33.8% year-on-year, while services related to waste treatment, transportation, and wastewater purification increased by 17.2%.
