First Direct Belarus Container Train Arrives in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The first direct scheduled container train, the Slavyansky Caravan, from Belarus arrived at Chukursay station, part of the Tashkent Regional Railway Hub branch, on 5 August. A ceremonial reception was held to mark the occasion.

The event was attended by executives of Uzbekistan Railways, Temiryulinfratuzilma, the Tashkent Regional Railway Hub branch, representatives of the Belarusian Embassy in Uzbekistan, and members of the media.

Participants said the launch of the new rail route was one of the practical outcomes of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Belarus and his talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

According to participants, the two leaders identified priority areas for strengthening the strategic partnership, expanding bilateral trade and enhancing industrial cooperation. In this context, the new route is seen as a practical step toward developing modern transport and logistics infrastructure and implementing joint initiatives.

They also noted that rail transportation of agricultural products and other cargo was discussed during bilateral meetings held in the Vitebsk region of Belarus from 11 to 14 July.

Train No. 3034, consisting of 51 wagons, departed Orsha-Vostochnaya station on 30 July. After covering 3,822 kilometers, it arrived at Chukursay station.

Uzbekistan Railways said it intends to continue expanding cooperation with Belarusian Railway, improve international transport corridors, introduce modern logistics solutions and create conditions for further growth in bilateral trade between the two countries.
