Uzbekistan increases gasoline imports and cuts diesel fuel intake

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Imports of oil and petroleum products to Uzbekistan reached US$949.4 million in January–June 2026, compared to US$914.6 million during the same period in 2025, according to data from the Customs Committee. While growth in value terms stood at 3.8%, the structure of imports changed noticeably.

Gasoline became the largest import item. Its intake rose by 49.8%, from 461.7 million to 691.4 million liters, while procurement costs increased from US$264.9 million to US$409.5 million. Gasoline accounted for 43.1% of all petroleum product imports, up from 29.0% a year earlier.

Conversely, diesel fuel imports declined by 26.3%, falling from 383.7 million to 283.0 million kilograms, and their value decreased from US$282.5 million to US$228.9 million.

Imports of liquefied gas (propane) grew significantly, rising 2.2 times from 71.4 million to 156.2 million kilograms. In value terms, purchases increased nearly threefold, from US$29.3 million to US$86.3 million.

Fuel oil imports practically ceased, as deliveries fell from 235.9 million to 18.7 million kilograms, and their value dropped from US$94.6 million to US$5.3 million. Kerosene imports decreased from 52.1 million to 19.5 million kilograms, and fell in value terms from US$51.3 million to US$19.7 million.

Purchases of lubricants remained at the level of the previous year, totaling 54.9 million kilograms valued at US$98.5 million. Imports of other light distillates decreased from 122.9 million to 98.5 million kilograms, while imports of other liquid fuel types rose from 34.6 million to 77.3 million kilograms.
