Uzbekistan expands cooperation in green procurement sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement of Uzbekistan, Expertise France, and the French Development Agency (AFD) have defined priority areas of cooperation for developing the system of green public procurement. The relevant matters were reviewed during a working meeting held on 1 July 2026.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed ongoing public procurement reforms in Uzbekistan, the development of green procurement mechanisms, and the prospects for further cooperation between the Agency and Expertise France.
Meeting participants reviewed issues concerning the improvement of the electronic public procurement system, the phased introduction of environmental criteria during procurement procedures, professional training for public buyers and suppliers, and the adaptation of international experience to the national system.
Special attention was paid to a joint 10-month work plan between the Agency and Expertise France. The document provides for the phased implementation of green public procurement, the execution of pilot tenders for priority product categories, the improvement of the electronic procurement platform, the development of supplier evaluation mechanisms, and the introduction of best international practices.
It was noted that the implementation of the plan aims to fulfill the tasks assigned to the Agency by a decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated 6 February 2026.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to jointly implement the outlined projects and consistently develop cooperation in the public procurement sector.
