Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev held a meeting with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov in Baku on 17 September, Uzbekistan's Energy Ministry said.
The two sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached at the meeting of the heads of the two states in August, as well as the further development of cooperation in the energy sector.
During the talks, particular attention was given to expanding bilateral interaction, developing new promising projects and advancing cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
The two sides also examined interaction in the electricity sector and renewable energy sources, the implementation of the Central Asia — Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor project, geological exploration work, supplies of oil and petroleum products, and joint projects in oil refining.
The meeting noted that relations between the two countries and interaction based on mutual trust create the basis for the further development of strategic partnership, including in the energy sector.
Following the talks, the Uzbek Energy Ministry and the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry signed a Roadmap for expanding cooperation in the energy sector for 2026–2028.
The document provides for the implementation of the Green Energy Corridor project, cooperation in geological exploration and extraction in the oil and gas sector, supplies of oil and petroleum products, the development of joint projects in oil refining, and the expansion of SOCAR's activities in Uzbekistan.
