Uzbekistan Approves Expansion of Kizirik District Area
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan have reviewed and approved a draft resolution on changing the administrative borders of the Kizirik and Jarkurgan districts in the Surkhandarya region.
The issue was presented by the governor of Surkhandarya region, Ulugbek Kasimov. According to the draft, it is proposed to transfer 4,740 hectares of land from Jarkurgan district to Kizirik district.
The decision is aimed at improving territorial governance, enhancing living conditions for the population, and stimulating socio-economic development. As a result of the changes, conditions are expected to improve for 4,230 residents comprising 731 families, along with the creation of additional employment opportunities.
During the discussion, special attention was given to the development of agriculture, particularly livestock farming, as well as more efficient use of pasture lands. It was emphasized that the region’s climatic and natural conditions provide a favorable basis for expanding agricultural production.
According to information presented at the session, the initiative was preliminarily reviewed at the level of citizens’ assemblies (mahallas), Councils of People’s Deputies of both districts, and the regional council. Cartographic materials and the new boundary line were also approved.
A representative of the UzLiDeP faction, Aktam Khaitov, noted that the redistribution of land serves the interests of the local population and creates conditions for faster development of livestock farming and related sectors. He added that part of the new land is expected to be allocated to low-income families and used for melon-growing and vegetable production.
The annual agricultural output is projected to reach 1,200 tons, which would strengthen the fodder base and increase household incomes.
Following discussions, deputies supported and approved the proposed decision.
