Uzbekistan and Oman to Expand Trade and Investment Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan and Oman have discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as developing direct relations between the business communities of both countries. The negotiations took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with the participation of a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate, Saif bin Nasir al-Taywani.
The Uzbek side at the meeting was represented by Alisher Shaykhov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the parties reviewed issues related to increasing mutual trade turnover, expanding investment interaction, and implementing joint projects across various economic sectors. The jewelry, petrochemical, food, agricultural, pharmaceutical, tourism, and hospitality industries were identified among the priority areas.
The participants paid particular attention to the prospects of deep processing of fruit and vegetable products grown in Uzbekistan to manufacture high-value-added goods. The Omani side expressed keen interest in implementing joint investment projects in this sector, as well as supplying finished products to the Omani market and other foreign countries.
In addition, the sides discussed opportunities for more effective utilization of the tourism potential of both nations, creating new travel itineraries, and developing tourism infrastructure.
The visit also featured B2B meetings bringing together business representatives from both Uzbekistan and Oman to explore direct partnerships.
Following the negotiations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a regular dialogue between their business communities and facilitating the implementation of joint projects and initiatives.
