Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Expand Agricultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, science and investment at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Business Forum held in Bishkek.

The forum concluded with the signing of agreements aimed at developing joint projects and strengthening partnership in the agricultural sector.

The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kahramon Yuldashev.

During a panel session on cooperation in agriculture and the food industry, participants discussed prospects for collaboration in seed production, potato cultivation, rice farming, the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, agricultural processing, and the practical application of scientific research.

Particular attention was given to expanding trade, economic and investment ties, implementing joint projects and strengthening direct cooperation between businesses from the two countries.

One of the forum's key outcomes was the signing of bilateral agreements in the agricultural sector. Uzbekistan's National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture and the state-owned Kyrgyz Agroholding signed a cooperation agreement on seed production. In addition, Uzbekistan's Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon and Potato Crops and the K.K. Azikov Kyrgyz Research Institute of Agriculture signed an agreement to expand scientific cooperation.

The parties expect the agreements to promote the exchange of high-quality seed material, joint scientific research, the testing of new crop varieties and the sharing of expertise between specialists.

The forum concluded with B2B meetings, enabling business representatives from both countries to establish new partnerships and discuss joint initiatives aimed at further expanding Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation in the agricultural sector.
