Uzbekistan Power Grid Hits New Summer Consumption Record

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The power system of Uzbekistan met record electricity demand on 20 July amid abnormally high air temperatures, according to the Ministry of Energy. Daily consumption reached 301.9 million kWh, marking the highest summer level on record.

According to the ministry, the new peak exceeded last summer's record by 29.3 million kWh, or 10.75%. Compared to the previous record set on 18 July, consumption increased by 7.5 million kWh, or 2.55%.

The maximum load on the country's Unified Energy System was registered at 5:22 p.m. at 14.2 GW.

Daily electricity generation also set a new record. Power plants produced 305.4 million kWh on 20 July, which is 8.3 million kWh, or 2.79%, higher than the previous maximum of 297.1 million kWh achieved on 18 July.

The ministry noted that the record figures reflect a significant rise in electricity demand during extreme heat and confirm the stable operation of the power grid, which ensured uninterrupted supply to consumers.

To maintain reliable electricity supply during peak load periods, emergency repair crews at energy enterprises were placed on enhanced duty and promptly cleared emerging network faults.

On 20 July at 1:47 p.m., a line fault feeding the Sebzor residential area in Tashkent's Almazar district temporarily cut power to 310 consumers. Electricity was fully restored by 6:57 p.m.

On the same day at 4:11 p.m., a network fault temporarily left about 1,500 consumers in the capital's Yakkasaray and Chilanzar districts without electricity. The fault was cleared by 4:55 p.m.

At 4:49 p.m., an outage near Fergana Yuli Street and the Uysozlar residential area in the Yashnabad district disrupted power supply to 350 consumers. Electricity supply was restored by 10:00 p.m.

Another network failure occurred at 5:05 p.m. in the first block of the Chilanzar district, leaving 300 consumers temporarily without power. Electricity supply was restored at 10:03 p.m.

On 21 July at 2:40 a.m., a network fault serving Khonabod and Sultonobod streets in the Sergeli district left 280 consumers without electricity. Power supply was restored following repair work.

At 5:20 a.m., network damage on Sebzor and Takhtapul streets in the Almazar district led to a temporary outage for 320 consumers. The fault was cleared by 7:10 a.m.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that operational teams continue to work in an enhanced regime to ensure reliable power supply to consumers amid ongoing high loads on the energy system.
