Uzbekistan and China Expand Agricultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in agriculture is entering a new stage, covering a wide range of scientific, technological, and practical areas. The Chinese side has significant experience and resources in the agricultural sector, which provides a foundation for deeper bilateral engagement.

Innovative approaches in agriculture occupy a central place in the joint agenda, including the development of smart farming technologies, the introduction of modern water-saving solutions, efforts to combat desertification, and the improvement of seed production systems. These areas are viewed as key for the sustainable development of the agricultural sectors of both countries.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Beijing maintains regular dialogue with relevant ministries and agencies of China, as well as with state and private companies and research institutions. In recent months, a series of meetings has been held with representatives of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

During talks with the Academy’s President Huang Sanwen, the Uzbek side presented information on ongoing agricultural reforms in the country aimed at introducing modern technologies, improving production efficiency, and addressing land degradation.

As a result of the discussions, an agreement was reached to develop scientific and practical exchanges, organize joint educational programs, academic internships, conferences, and forums.

The parties also outlined prospects for cooperation in the development of water-saving technologies and integrated irrigation systems, digitalization of the agricultural sector, agricultural product processing, biosecurity, and the restoration of saline and degraded lands.

Founded in 1957, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences comprises around forty research institutes and eight innovation centers, making it one of the largest specialized scientific organizations in the world and a leading center for agricultural research in China.
