Uzbekistan and Belarus to Ease Citizens' Stay Rules
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Belarus have agreed to increase the period of stay for citizens of both countries without registration from three to 10 days. The corresponding changes are provided for by a protocol amending the Agreement on Mutual Travel of Citizens.
Amir Sultanov, head of a department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, announced this in an interview with the O‘zbekiston 24 television channel while commenting on the results of the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus.
According to him, the protocol was signed in the presence of the presidents of Uzbekistan and Belarus. The document provides for an increase in the length of stay for citizens without registration on the territory of both countries from three to 10 days.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative noted, the change will make trips to relatives and friends, as well as tourist and business visits, more convenient.
On 9 July, following negotiations, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko signed a Declaration on establishing strategic partnership relations. In addition, the parties approved a roadmap for the development of trade and economic cooperation for 2026–2030 and a number of bilateral agreements in the fields of agriculture, science, culture, tourism, social protection, labor migration, and emergency prevention.
The agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Belarus on mutual travel of citizens was signed on 19 January 2005 in Tashkent. The document entered into force on 25 July 2006 and remains valid indefinitely.
