Uzbekistan and APSTAR discuss satellite communications development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Cynthia Zhang, senior director of APT Satellite Company Limited (APSTAR), to discuss cooperation prospects in satellite communications. The meeting took place during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai.

The sides reviewed the development of satellite communication services in Uzbekistan, the expansion of modern telecommunications infrastructure, and the deepening of practical interaction in this area.

APSTAR representatives expressed readiness to offer a full range of satellite services and technological solutions to the Uzbek market, noting the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation.

Following the talks, the participants discussed next steps for implementing joint projects, concluding necessary organizational and legal procedures, and the possibility of presenting the first results of the cooperation during ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026.
