Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan allocated 1,680.6 billion soums, or about 1.7 trillion soums, for research and development activities in 2025, according to data from the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Funding for research and development increased by 106.5 billion soums compared with 2024, representing growth of 6.8%.

The number of specialists engaged in research and development activities also increased during the year. In 2025, their total number reached 43,100.

The figure rose by 9,500 people, or 28.3%, compared with 2024.

Women accounted for 17,400 of the total number of research specialists, representing 40.4%.

Men numbered 25,700, or 59.6% of all researchers.

Thus, the increase in the number of specialists engaged in research and development activities in 2025 was accompanied by higher funding for the sector.
