Uzbekistan, Algeria Eye Mining Joint Ventures and Exploration Deals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Algeria Open Mining Cooperation Talks, Targeting Joint Ventures and Value-Added Processing

Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov has met with Algeria's Minister of Mining Industry Mourad Hanifi to explore cooperation across mineral resources, geological exploration, and extractive industry development — framing the sector as one of the most promising growth vectors in bilateral relations between the two resource-rich nations.

Talks centered on joint geological survey work, development of prospective deposits, the establishment of joint ventures, and — notably — deep processing of mineral raw materials into higher-value finished products, signaling an intent to move beyond raw extraction toward industrial partnership.

Both sides acknowledged that Uzbekistan and Algeria hold significant natural resource endowments and complementary capabilities in exploration and mining, and exchanged views on the long-term partnership architecture needed to translate that potential into concrete projects.
