Uzbek Consulate Comments on Case in Altai Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk has commented on social media reports alleging that a Uzbek citizen was being forced into labor at a construction site in the city of Biysk in Russia’s Altai Krai.

According to the consulate, its representatives promptly contacted the Uzbek citizen born in 2002 mentioned in the reports.

During the conversation, it was established that the young man arrived at the construction site in late May 2026. The consulate noted that the employer had issued the necessary documents, including a work patent, and covered expenses related to his relocation to the workplace.

The Consulate General is currently working on returning the citizen’s documents and arranging airline tickets for his return to Uzbekistan.

The diplomatic mission stressed that the situation is under special control and urged media outlets to refrain from publishing unverified information.
