Uzbek car plant plans to produce vans using liquefied gas
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Starting from 2011, the GM Uzbekistan joint venture is planning to produce Damas mini-vans that will use liquefied gas (a mixture of propane and butane) as fuel.
There are plans to upgrade a line to assemble Damas cars at the Asaka car plant in 2010-11, which will make it possible to equip the cars with gas cylinders. The cost of the project to upgrade the line with capacity of 25,000 cars a year is estimated at 5m dollars.
The plant has been producing Damas vans since 1996.
