US leader congratulates Uzbek counterpart on Independence Day

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- US President Barack Obama congratulated his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov on Independence Day and the 2,200th anniversary of Tashkent city.

“On behalf of the American people, I congratulate the Uzbek people on Independence Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the 2,200th anniversary of Tashkent city to be marked on 1 September. We all recognize the day when independent and sovereign Uzbekistan joined the international community,” the message reads.

“I wish you and citizens of Uzbekistan a happy holiday,” US leader said.
