Toytepa was renamed into Nurafshon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Today, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a decision on renaming the city of Toytepa into Nurafshon.

On 24 August 2017, Senators changed borders of Toytepa city and approved a decision on transfer of the town to the category of cities of regional subordination.

Nurafshon was also designated as the administrative center of Tashkent region. Earlier, Tashkent region did not have an administrative center.

Earlier, it was reported that Toytepa would be the first “smart city” in Uzbekistan. The project is implemented jointly with specialists from South Korea.
