Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Tashkent Road Traffic Safety Department has released new details regarding a fatal traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of Amir Temur and Bogishamol streets. According to the agency, minors were behind the wheel of both the Zeekr and KIA vehicles involved.
Following the tragedy, the head of the capital's Road Traffic Safety Department held a special meeting dedicated to the circumstances of the crash. Furthermore, department officers have initiated preventive work in the mahalla where the underage participants of the incident reside.
The agency once again reminded parents that transferring control of vehicles to minors is strictly impermissible. The Road Traffic Safety Department noted that full official information regarding the causes and circumstances of the accident will be published later.
The accident occurred on 30 June 2026 at around 05:10 in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. According to preliminary data, the underage drivers engaged in a street race, resulting in one of the vehicles colliding at high speed with a passing Chevrolet Lacetti.
A woman died as a result of the accident. A four-year-old child and their grandmother sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized in an intensive care unit.
