Tashkent Road Collapse Prompts Closure on Glinka Street
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Traffic has been temporarily restricted on Glinka Street in Tashkent's Yakkasaray district following a road surface collapse triggered by an unexpected loud report on 3 September 2026.
City authorities and district services placed the situation under heightened control, deploying specialists to conduct emergency recovery work and determine the cause of the damage. One individual sustained minor injuries during the incident and received immediate medical assistance.
While eyewitnesses reported that the road collapse may have stemmed from a heating pipeline failure, district utility operator Veolia Energy Tashkent dispatched emergency response crews to the site and confirmed that no leaks have been detected as of initial assessments.
Municipal authorities advised drivers to alter travel plans and utilize alternative routes while response teams, alongside emergency services, investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse. Veolia Energy Tashkent stated that comprehensive details will be published once on-site inspections are completed.
