Tashkent Plans 100-Km Toll Ring Road Project
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent is planning the construction of a toll ring motorway of approximately 100 kilometers, according to discussions held during talks between city authorities and representatives of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) as part of a working visit by an Uzbek delegation to Tianjin.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the development of the capital’s transport infrastructure. The sides considered prospects for implementing a toll ring road project, as well as building a toll highway connecting central Tashkent with the planned international airport.
The negotiations also covered the modernization of urban infrastructure, the introduction of modern urban planning and environmental solutions, and the participation of the Chinese company in integrated urban renewal projects.
In addition, the parties discussed the company’s experience in constructing social infrastructure facilities, including schools, kindergartens, and healthcare institutions. Special attention was given to a project for a construction and household waste recycling site using modern environmental standards and technologies.
According to the city administration, CRCC representatives expressed interest in studying the proposed projects and readiness for further cooperation.
During the visit, the Tashkent delegation also held talks with representatives of Tianjin city services. The sides exchanged experience in municipal management and discussed engineering solutions and their adaptation to the rapidly developing infrastructure of Tashkent.
Following the meetings, documents on cooperation were signed, providing for joint development of projects in sustainable urban infrastructure, including drainage system development, modernization of wastewater treatment facilities, and the introduction of technologies for water drainage, treatment, and reuse.
A separate meeting took place between Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov and Tianjin Mayor Zhang Gong. The sides discussed further expansion of trade and economic ties, improvement of the investment climate, and support for Chinese investors in Tashkent. According to both sides, trade turnover between the two cities has increased by 58% in recent years.
The negotiations also covered cooperation with Tianjin Urban Construction, which expressed interest in projects involving drainage systems, irrigation infrastructure, and wastewater treatment facilities in Tashkent. The Chinese side stated its readiness to support the implementation of these initiatives.
