Tashkent Khokimiyat Reports Clearing Main Aftermath of Heavy Downpour

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Khokimiyat of Tashkent city has issued an official appeal to residents and guests of the capital regarding the sharply deteriorating weather conditions.

It is reported that the heavy downpour that passed through the city, accompanied by hurricane-force winds, led to temporary localized flooding on certain streets and highways, creating specific inconveniences for citizens.

From the very first minutes of the storm, all specialized municipal departments and emergency response services were placed on high alert. The coordination and monitoring of the cleanup efforts were carried out by the khokimiyat on a continuous basis.

Large-scale operations were promptly conducted directly on-site to forcefully divert and pump out accumulated rainwater, urgently clear main stormwater and drainage networks, and restore safe conditions for public transit, private vehicles, and pedestrians.

To date, the main consequences caused by the heavy accumulation of water masses have been successfully eliminated, and traffic on key sections has stabilized.

Nevertheless, the responsible services are not slowing down their work and continue to monitor the situation across city districts around the clock to immediately take additional measures if necessary.

The city authorities emphasized that the localized emergencies arose solely due to the scale of the natural elements, and urged the population to exercise maximum caution, protect themselves and their loved ones, and take measures to secure personal property.
