Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva held a series of meetings with heads of foreign parliaments on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union taking place in Istanbul.

During talks with Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Marlen Mamataliyev, the sides noted the consistent development of interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries. They emphasized that regular reciprocal visits and dialogue on international platforms contribute to further strengthening cooperation. Special attention was given to the significance of meetings of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission held in the regions as an effective tool for expanding practical engagement.

At a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yusuf Raza Gilani, the sides highlighted the high level of political dialogue between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. It was noted that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Islamabad in February 2026 gave additional momentum to the development of strategic partnership. The parties agreed to intensify interparliamentary contacts.

During talks with Chairman of the Consultative Council of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, the sides emphasized the shared historical, cultural, and religious ties between the peoples of the two countries. Both parties expressed readiness to further strengthen interparliamentary cooperation.

Following the meetings, an exchange of views took place on expanding interparliamentary interaction, promoting joint initiatives, and strengthening international parliamentary dialogue.
