Share of small businesses in Uzbek GDP reaches 48.2%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The share of small businesses in gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan comprised 48.2% in 2008.

As earlier reported, the GDP of Uzbekistan rose by 9% year-on-year in 2008.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan said the commercial banks allocated 1.25 trillion soums of credits to small businesses in 2008 or up 68.2% year-on-year.

The bank said that about 72.7% of employed in Uzbekistan work in small businesses, including 19.7% to small and micro firms.
