SCO ministers discuss industrial cooperation in Cholpon-Ata
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The fourth meeting of industry ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, bringing together representatives from 10 countries. Uzbekistan’s delegation was led by Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov.
Discussions focused on deepening industrial cooperation, digitalising manufacturing processes, introducing innovations and developing environmentally sustainable industries.
Participants highlighted the need to strengthen technological and investment cooperation within the organisation.
Following the meeting, the parties adopted a joint communiqué outlining plans for the development of special industrial zones, the exchange of advanced technologies, the promotion of low-carbon initiatives and the organisation of joint exhibitions.
Participants also approved a draft regulation on the SCO Investment Projects Database, which is intended to support the implementation of promising economic initiatives by member states.
In addition, delegates reviewed Kyrgyzstan’s proposal to establish a textile cluster and simplify trade in light industry products. Further consideration of the initiative will be carried out by a specialised SCO working group.
