Samarkand and Leningrad Region Expand Art Restoration

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Specialists from the International Restoration Center located in Rozhdestveno in Russia’s Leningrad Region will assist their counterparts in Samarkand in the restoration of works of art. This was announced by Governor Alexander Drozdenko, who noted that the relevant agreements were formalized in a memorandum signed during his visit to Uzbekistan together with Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboev.

According to Drozdenko, the key objective of the agreement is the practical implementation of the arrangements reached. He emphasized that cooperation will focus on cultural heritage, an area in which the Leningrad Region has significant experience through the work of its International Restoration Center in Rozhdestveno.

Under the agreement, Samarkand will be able to send artworks requiring complex restoration to Russian specialists. In return, Russian experts will share technologies, knowledge, and professional expertise in the field of restoration.

The memorandum also places special emphasis on the development of humanitarian cooperation.

It foresees the establishment of direct links between universities in the two regions, the launch of academic exchange programs in both humanities and technical disciplines, and the organization of professional development courses for teachers of Russian language and literature from Uzbekistan on the basis of institutions in the Leningrad Region.
