Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on holding early presidential elections on 20 November.

The date of the early presidential elections in Kazakhstan has become known. The head of the republic, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed a corresponding decree, TASS reports.

“I decide to appoint early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 20 November,” the document says.

Earlier, the politician proposed holding early elections despite the fact that his presidential term expires only in 2024. According to him, this is necessary for "successful implementation of cardinal and comprehensive reforms on the way to building a just Kazakhstan."

In addition, the Senate (upper house of parliament) of Kazakhstan supported the introduction of a single seven-year presidential term in the republic. Chairman of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev said that such a step would allow the country to develop political competition.
