Poytaxt Parking Strengthens Vehicle Verification

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Poytaxt Parking has released an updated version of its mobile application, strengthening security for linking vehicles to user accounts, the street parking operator's press service said.

Users must now enter not only a vehicle's registration number but also the number of its vehicle registration certificate when adding a vehicle to the application. The system automatically verifies that the information matches.

The company said the new mechanism makes it impossible to link another person's vehicle using only its registration number.

Users who added vehicles before the update must remove them from their accounts and complete the linking process again by entering the vehicle registration certificate number. Until this is done, information about parking violations, including photographs, addresses and parking zone details, will be hidden in both the application and push notifications.

If a user attempts to pay for a parking violation, the application will prompt them to enter the vehicle registration certificate number. Access to violation details and payment options will only be available after the system confirms that the vehicle belongs to the account holder.

The company said prepaid parking sessions will continue to operate as usual without requiring the vehicle registration certificate number. Information about such sessions is available only to the user who initiated them.

Last week, Poytaxt Parking announced plans to revise its vehicle-linking mechanism to prevent unauthorized access to parking information. At the same time, the service temporarily disabled the option to add vehicles using a photograph from a notification.

The changes followed reports of insufficient protection of personal data.

Earlier, blogger Shukhratbek Kurbanov pointed out that users could add any vehicle to the service using only its registration number and gain access to the history of unpaid parking sessions, including photographs and information about the vehicle's location.
