Over 5,600 Uzbek Firms Apply for Simplified VAT Regime

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan has reported receiving and reviewing 5,601 notifications from business entities regarding their transition to a simplified procedure for calculating and paying value-added tax (VAT).

Certain categories of entrepreneurs were previously granted the right to choose the simplified VAT payment regime. This option applies to enterprises whose main activity is public catering, trade and the provision of services, with the exception of organisations with a state share of 50% or more, as well as large taxpayers.

To switch to the new procedure, taxpayers submit notifications through their personal account on the my.soliq.uz platform. According to the agency, 4,913 notifications have been accepted so far, 352 were rejected for failing to meet the established requirements, and 336 were withdrawn by the applicants themselves.

The Tax Committee clarified that entrepreneurs whose applications were rejected can clarify their main type of activity, contact their assigned tax inspector and resubmit their notification.

The agency also reiterated the conditions for applying the simplified regime. The 6% VAT rate applies to the entire turnover from the sale of goods and services.

Under this regime, there is no right to offset input VAT, existing benefits and tax refund mechanisms do not apply, and any existing negative VAT balance is written off.
