Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — In Uzbekistan, every third working citizen has at least one bank loan, according to the latest data published by the Central Bank of the country.

As of 1 June 2025, the number of individuals with at least one active loan exceeded 5 million.

The report also shows that around 27% of all borrowers — more than 1.4 million people — have two or more loans, with 16% of them holding two loans.

There is also a growing number of citizens experiencing high debt burdens. While in 2020 only 5% of borrowers had three or more loans, by 2025 this figure has risen to 11%.
