Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the Philippines discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in tourism, including increasing tourist exchanges and implementing new joint projects. The meeting was held on 14 August with the participation of S. Bobokalonov, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Philippine Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan Roberto G. Manalo, and Philippine Honorary Consul Behbat Sodnom.

The sides discussed further development of tourism ties between the two countries and expansion of mutual tourist exchanges.

Participants were briefed on Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage, as well as the country’s opportunities in pilgrimage, gastronomic, ecological and other forms of tourism. Information was also provided on the conditions being created in Uzbekistan for foreign tourists.

The sides also exchanged views on developing practical cooperation between representatives of the tourism industries of the two countries.

Potential cooperation tools discussed included business meetings, presentations, familiarisation tours and other events aimed at promoting the tourism potential of Uzbekistan and the Philippines.

Following the meeting, the sides discussed further cooperation in tourism and the promotion of joint initiatives.
