Namangan Expands Cooperation With Japan on Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Namangan region is expanding cooperation with Japanese educational organizations as part of the phased piloting of the Japanese education model, the information service of the Namangan regional hokimiyat said.

The pilot projects are aimed at improving the quality of education, developing modern skills among students and introducing international experience into the educational process.

The initiative currently involves 17 general education schools and 18 preschool education organizations. Selected elements of the Japanese education system are being introduced at these institutions. Japanese specialist Gotō Mikako, who has extensive experience in the field, is also involved in the project.

The new stage of cooperation involves KEI Advanced, an education company that is part of Japan’s Kawaijuku Group. The company specializes in assessing education quality, developing testing systems, training teachers and promoting Japanese educational experience abroad.

Nobuaki Kimura, a manager at KEI Advanced and Nippon Global Education and Assessment (NGEA), one of the company’s key partner organizations in Uzbekistan, arrived in Namangan. Representatives of the Japanese side were received by Namangan regional Hokim Shavkatjon Abdurazzakov.

At the beginning of the meeting, the regional head thanked Gotō Mikako for her work on implementing educational initiatives in the region.

Nobuaki Kimura presented the activities of NGEA, which was established in Tashkent in 2023. The sides also discussed the company’s experience gained through projects implemented in Uzbekistan.

In particular, Japanese approaches to knowledge assessment and mathematics teaching were piloted in 40 schools across 14 regions of Uzbekistan in 2021–2023 as part of a JICA project.

During the talks, the participants identified further areas of cooperation in Namangan region.

Following the meeting, a memorandum was signed establishing a general framework for non-commercial discussions on a modern integrated education model, information exchange, the study of potential areas of cooperation and preparations for subsequent collaboration.
