Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part on 3–4 May in the events of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank, to be held in Samarkand.

The head of state is expected to deliver remarks at the opening ceremony and hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of foreign delegations.

The main theme of the meeting is defined as “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing a Connected Future for the Region.” The forum is regarded as a key international platform for discussing priorities of global and regional economic development.

Discussions will focus on green transformation, energy transition, digitalization, investment attraction, food security, and the resilience of industrial supply chains.

The five-day summit is expected to bring together delegations from more than 100 countries. Participants will include representatives of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and other international institutions, as well as around 2,000 representatives of governments, major companies, and banks. The total number of delegates is expected to exceed 4,000.

Uzbekistan has been a member of the Asian Development Bank since 1995 and is among its largest partners, with a total project portfolio approaching US$16 billion. The country is hosting the bank’s annual meeting for the second time.
